About the Bobcat skid steer loader

In Saudi Arabia "Bobcat" is the everyday name for any skid-steer loader, whoever built it, in the same way "dyna" means any small truck. It has four wheels that do not steer; each side turns at its own speed and direction, so the machine spins round in little more than its own length. On the front is a quick-attach plate that takes a bucket for soil and fill, pallet forks, a hydraulic breaker for concrete, an auger for holes, or a sweeper for yards.

The size most often rented weighs about 2.6–3 t with a rated operating capacity of 700–900 kg; larger models run to about 3.8 t and 1,250 kg for heavier work. Rated operating capacity is about half the tipping load, so do not heap the bucket beyond it with heavy material. Before booking, tell us the narrowest way in, the job and the attachment you need, and the ground surface, because the tires scrub when it turns and can mark tiles and new asphalt.

What a Bobcat skid steer loader is hired for

  • Site clean-up after building and fit-out

Scrapes up concrete waste, broken block and fit-out debris from ground floors and yards and loads it into a skip or a dyna in short order.

  • Backfilling and levelling around footings and walls

Gets between columns and walls to backfill around footings and behind boundary walls, spreading layers ready for compaction.

  • Villa and landscaping sites with tight access

Passes through the villa gate to move topsoil, sand and pavers, and lays the sand bed under interlock paving for drives and paths.

  • Breaking slabs and kerbs with a hydraulic breaker

With a breaker fitted it breaks up concrete floors and kerbs on renovation and strip-out jobs, then swaps to the bucket to gather the rubble.

  • Inside warehouses and factories

With forks it moves pallets in tight corners, and with a bucket or sweeper it clears yards and spills, given good ventilation for the diesel exhaust.

  • Post holes and tree pits with an auger

An auger bores straight holes for fence and lighting posts and for planting palms and trees far faster than digging by hand.

Bobcat skid steer loader rental questions

What is the difference between a Bobcat and a wheel loader?
A wheel loader is far bigger, usually with a bucket of more than a cubic meter, and steers on a joint in the middle, so it needs wide space. A Bobcat is smaller and slower on large volumes, but it gets through gates and into ground floors, turns on the spot and changes attachment in minutes. For big volumes on open ground a wheel loader fits better; for tight spaces and mixed jobs, the Bobcat.
How much does a Bobcat carry per load?
A standard bucket holds about 0.3–0.5 m³, but the real limit is the rated operating capacity, not the volume. Dry sand weighs around 1.6 t per cubic meter, so a 0.4 m³ bucket of sand comes close to 650 kg, near the limit of a mid-size machine. With rubble or broken concrete, carry less than a heaped bucket.
Will a Bobcat fit through a villa gate?
With a standard bucket it is about 1.5–1.85 m wide and around 2 m high, so it passes most vehicle gates. Smaller models close to 1 m wide exist for tighter entrances; give us the gate width and height when you ask and we will confirm which size is available.
Can a Bobcat work inside a building or a closed warehouse?
Yes, for short tasks with good ventilation, since diesel exhaust cannot be tolerated in an enclosed space for long. Open the doors or run extraction fans, switch the engine off while waiting, and cover finished floors, because the tires scrub and leave marks when it turns.
Does the Bobcat come with an operator and attachments?
An operator is available on request, which suits most short jobs, since they know the machine's limits and how to swap attachments. Name the attachment you need, whether bucket, forks, breaker, auger or sweeper, and we confirm availability with the quote, then deliver on a dyna or small flatbed to your site in Jeddah or any city in the Kingdom.
