How to size a generator

Add up the power of everything that will run at the same time, then allow at least 20 to 25 percent for the starting current of motors, air conditioners and pumps, which draw several times their rated power at start-up. We supply generators from 10 kW for site offices and exhibitions, through 50 to 200 kW for construction sites and camps, up to 500 and 1000 kW for factories and large facilities.

Running a generator continuously below 30 percent of its rating damages the engine, and running it above 80 percent for long periods shortens its life, so the right size matters more than the biggest size.
