About the 14 m telehandler

A telehandler is a forklift with a telescopic boom that reaches forward and up, combining a forklift's pallet handling with a boom that can get over obstacles. At 14 m, maximum capacity is about 3.5–4 t with the boom retracted, forward reach is around 10 m, and the machine weighs roughly 10–12 t. It runs on diesel with four-wheel drive and four-wheel steer, and many models have front stabilizers.

The one thing to understand before renting is that the permitted load falls steeply as the boom extends: a pallet it handles easily close to the wheels can be over the limit 8 m out. Send the weight of the heaviest pallet, the height needed and the distance from where the machine stands to the drop point, and we check them against the load chart. An operator is available on request.

What a 14 m telehandler is hired for

  • Block pallets onto villa slabs

Sets block pallets straight onto first- and second-floor slabs from outside the building, with no crane needed.

  • Unloading trucks on unpaved ground

Big tires and 4WD let it clear a truck of pallets on sandy ground where a standard forklift would bog down.

  • Rebar bundles and formwork

Lifts rebar bundles and formwork to slab level and sets them where the crew wants them along the edge.

  • Roof sheets on single-story sheds

Eaves on small and mid-size sheds fall within its range, so it lifts bundles of sheets straight up to the purlins.

  • Bucket work around the site

With a bucket fitted it moves sand, aggregate and site waste, so one machine covers two jobs on the project.

Is the 14 m telehandler the right size?

  • Larger size17 m telehandler — If the drop point is above the third floor, or more than about 7 m from where the machine can stand, the 17 m telehandler gives more reach and more load-chart margin.

14 m telehandler rental questions

How much can a 14 m telehandler lift at full height?
The 3.5–4 t figure is the maximum with the boom retracted, close to the machine. At full height the capacity typically drops to about 1.5–2.5 t, and at full forward reach to around 1 t or less, depending on the model's load chart.
How is a 14 m telehandler different from a forklift?
A forklift lifts straight up and needs a hard surface; a telehandler pushes the load forward over obstacles and works on dirt. For warehouses, concrete floors and heavy loads near the ground a forklift is still the better tool; on building sites and at height the telehandler wins.
Can a 14 m telehandler lift workers?
Only with an approved work platform designed for that model and the machine set up for it, and many sites in the Kingdom do not allow it at all. If the job needs people at height, a man lift or scissor lift is the right tool and can be rented alongside the telehandler.
Will a 14 m telehandler work on sand?
Four-wheel drive and big tires get it across sand, but for a high lift it must stand on compacted, level ground with the stabilizers on solid pads. Keep away from excavation edges, because the ground there can collapse under the front wheels.
