About the 48 m man lift (boom lift)

Going from 40 m to 48 m adds about eight meters of height, and it changes the machine as well. Weight is roughly 22–26 t, the axles spread to 3.8–5 m before the boom may rise, and the boom tip carries a jib of about 2.4–7.6 m depending on the model. Outreach barely moves, to around 23.5–24.4 m, so the reason to book this size is height: a tower crown, the head of a stack or silo, or the edge of a stadium roof.

Both boom types are available at this height. The telescopic reaches furthest and gets to the top fastest; the articulating version climbs over an obstacle up to about 18 m high, such as a pipe rack, a roof or a neighboring unit, then puts the basket out beyond it. Either way it arrives on a lowbed and needs a firm set-up pad prepared in advance, and the trip from stowed to full height and back takes several minutes, so group the work at the top into one climb rather than coming down for each tool. Delivery is to Jeddah or any city in the Kingdom, with an operator on request.

What a 48 m man lift (boom lift) is hired for

  • Tower crowns and top-floor glazing on 14-story buildings

From street level it reaches the parapet, architectural crown and upper glass of a building about 45 m tall, without waiting for a scaffold.

  • Stadium roof edges and floodlight frames

Standing on the track or the outer apron, it reaches the cantilevered roof edge, gutters and floodlights of a large stadium.

  • Tall columns behind live units in petrochemical plants

The articulating boom climbs over the pipe rack or the next unit, then reaches column platforms and manways above 40 m.

  • Silo heads and factory stacks

Takes the inspector up the shell of a stack or silo to near its top for bands, joints, coating and repairs.

  • Roof steel in aircraft hangars

Drives across the level hangar floor and reaches the top trusses, fire-protection pipework and lighting under a wide-span roof.

48 m man lift (boom lift) rental questions

Do I need a 48 m or a 56 m man lift?
Outreach is much the same on both, so the real difference is height and weight. If the top of the job is below about 45 m and the machine can stand close, the 48 m is enough, and it is lighter and shorter to transport. Above that, or with a long set-back from a building of that height, the 56 m becomes the right choice.
Telescopic or articulating at 48 m: which should I choose?
The telescopic suits open work points: it reaches furthest, climbs fastest and is the lighter of the two. The articulating version is a few tons heavier, but it climbs over obstacles up to about 18 m high and lets the basket be placed precisely around a structure. Send us the height of whatever stands between the machine and the work, and we will match the boom type to it.
What do restricted and unrestricted capacity mean on a 48 m man lift?
Many machines in this class carry two ratings. The lower one, about 230–340 kg, applies across the whole working envelope; the higher one, up to about 450 kg, applies only in a smaller zone near the machine where the boom is not fully out. The operator selects the mode before lifting and the machine limits its reach to match, so plan heavy loads for points close to the chassis.
How is a 48 m man lift transported, and does it need a road permit?
It travels on a lowbed with the jib folded, about 12–13 m long and 22–26 t, so truck and trailer together make a heavy load. Depending on the route, the move may need a heavy-load permit and set travel hours, so the route is planned before the date is confirmed. Tell us about low bridges, tight turns or weight limits on the way into your site.
Can a 48 m man lift work on a finished slab inside a hangar or hall?
Often yes, if the slab was designed for heavy vehicles, but check with the facility engineer first: 22–26 t rides on four wheels, and with the boom out most of it sits on one or two. Put boards or protective mats under the wheels where the surface matters, and deal with diesel exhaust by opening the doors or running extraction.
