Crane 160 Ton for rent in Jeddah

Crane 160 Ton Rental in Jeddah

A 160-ton crane is close to the 150-ton in size but usually brings a little more counterweight and capacity at long radius, so it is chosen when the 150-ton chart is on the edge, or for tandem lifts with a second crane.

About the 160-ton crane

On paper the gap between 150 and 160 tons is small, and in practice it depends more on the model than the number. Some 160-ton cranes have a boom a few meters longer, others more counterweight; both run on five axles with an outrigger base of roughly 8.5–9.5 m. So the comparison is between the two load charts at the actual radius and height of the lift, and sometimes a single meter of radius decides it.

The long boom makes this size more sensitive to wind, especially with large-area loads such as panels and light trusses. On the coast at Jeddah and Yanbu the wind can pick up in the afternoon, and the crane's chart sets a maximum working wind speed that is reduced for broad loads. Plan sensitive lifts for the morning and watch the wind at the boom tip, not at ground level.

What a 160-ton crane is hired for

  • Tandem lifts with a second crane

Works as main or tailing crane to tilt long vessels and columns from horizontal to vertical.

  • Long-span trusses for halls

Lifts long-span steel trusses at a radius where a 150-ton would be close to its limit.

  • Pre-assembled modules

Sets prefabricated electrical rooms and large process skids on their foundations in industrial projects.

  • High masts and broadcast towers

Lifts sections of tall towers and stadium lighting masts to heights that need a long boom with real capacity.

Is the 160-ton crane the right size?

  • Smaller size150-ton crane — As long as a 150-ton crane handles the piece comfortably at the actual radius, a 160-ton adds little.
  • Larger size200-ton crane — If the piece is both heavy and far out, or the job needs a boom beyond about 70 m, the next size is a 200-ton crane.

160-ton crane rental questions

Is a 160-ton crane worth it over a 150-ton?
Only if the load chart shows the 150-ton is near its limit at the required radius and height. For many lifts the two do the same job, so send the weight and radius and the two charts can be compared before choosing.
At what wind speed does a 160-ton crane stop?
The crane's chart and the manufacturer's instructions set the limit, and it falls as the boom gets longer or the load presents more area to the wind. That is why wind is usually measured by a sensor at the boom tip, and the operator stops the lift if the limit is exceeded.
Can a 160-ton crane work with another crane on one lift?
Yes. Tandem lifts are common for upending long columns and vessels, but they need a detailed lift plan that shares the load between the two cranes and sets each one's movements. Each crane is normally held below its chart capacity as a safety margin in this kind of lift.
How much room do the support trucks need with a 160-ton crane?
Allow space for the crane and its outriggers, plus a spot alongside for one or two trucks to unload the counterweight within reach of the boom. On a tight site the trucks can arrive one after another, but that lengthens the rig-up.
